Sustainable Elimination of (Child) Bonded Labour through Educational Social Mobilization in Nepal

On the financial and technical support of ILO (International Labour Organization), UNYC Nepal has been conducting this program, which was started from 1 January 2008 and will be completed by 31 December 2009. The main target groups of this program are families of freed Kamaiya living in Bardiya district. The main development objective of the Action Programme is to contribute to the sustainable elimination of (child) bonded labour in Nepal among Additionally-Identified Freed Kamaiyas families. Other immediate objectives are given bellow.

Immediate Objective 1: Additionally-Identified Freed Kamaiya families are sensitized and mobilized to initiate action at local and district levels.

Immediate Objective 2: Model interventions are established for the education and training of Additionally-Identified Freed Kamaiya children and adolescents (boys and girls aged 6 to 17 years) as well as adults, mainly women.
